Dragon Fin Soup is an RPG in development for PC/Mac/Linux as well as Sony consoles set in a dark fairy-tale inspired world.  It has turn-based combat where enemies move simultaneously (plays similar to Chocobo's dungeon). There's going to be two different game modes. Story Mode plays more like a traditional RPG. Survival Mode plays like a classic roguelike with permanent death. The 1st adventure begins with Red Robin, a cheerful yet raging alcoholic young woman with a troubled past who earns a living as a bounty hunter.  The game has already passed their initial funding goal and if certain stretch goals are met there will be expansions with additional playable characters.

I figured this might appeal to some Mage's Initiation fans, but since it's not exactly an adventure game I didn't want to post about it in the adv. game KS thread.

I have an Android tablet and have got a few games for it... One that I absolutely love is "Joe Dever's Lone Wolf".   It's an adaptation of the Lone Wolf gamebooks (think choose your own adventure except much better and with a combat system). It is basically a gamebook with turn-based RPG style battles.

I also have tried Heroes of Steel RPG which seems decent.  If I didn't already have Shadowrun Returns on my PC I would probably get it.

I would like to get some more turn-based RPGs or turn-based strategy games for it, but I am not aware of many available for the Android.  Seems like there's a lot of MMO style games for Android but that's not my cup of tea.

I'm backing this game on Kickstarter:  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/698883673/unrest-an-unconventional-rpg-set-in-ancient-india?ref=live  I figure a lot of Mage's Initiation supporters may be interested in this.  The game is an adventure / RPG hybrid set in an Ancient India (with fantasy elements) and emphasizes player choice and story over combat (which will be rare, usually avoidable and have realistic consequences).

Realm is a new adventure game Kickstarter set in a future where nature has reclaimed the land over the ruins of humanity. Play as Sarina and her stone golem companion Toru as they journey to find a cure to save her sick mother. It looks beautiful and you should check it out.

I backed this game even after I swore I was going to lay off on backing KS projects until some of the ones I backed get released.  But The Realm looks very promising.

Mage's Initiation Forum / Demo comments

Just completed the demo.  Not much to say about the non-combat part it but it's good for an introduction.

The combat took a bit of getting used to, but overall was pretty good for an early alpha demo.  I think my only frustration was when D'Arc got completely surrounded by enemies.  While the #3 spell could prevent this, I found that if I didn't have enough mana for it it was basically game over.  I couldn't consume the mana potion when I was being bludgeoned from all sides / couldn't run away.    I suppose it is realistic but still a bit frustrating when there's no way out.  I don't know if some sort of roll / dodge option could be implemented to help with this.

I'm also curious what Strength will do since there wasn't any melee attack option.  Are there plans to implement a melee attack of some kind?  I think it would be good if there was one; I know D'Arc is a mage, not a warrior, so perhaps make it much weaker than spells or simply stun the enemies so the player always has a strong incentive to use magic.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the game.

Thanks. I had the bellows, but for some reason just didn't think to use it there.  I guess I'm a bit out of practice with point and click adventure games.

Mage's Initiation Forum / Stuck in the demo

I'm embarrassed to say it, but I'm baffled on what to do in the demo.  I know I need to get the clear gem from the reading hall but I can't figure out how to get it.  Probably missing something really obvious but for the life of me I can't see what it is.
