Classic Adventure Gaming is back - Al Emmo ships!
Phoenix, Arizona - September 6, 2006 -Remember an era when classics like King's Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, and Monkey Island reigned supreme? Remember a time when games had an enticing storyline and challenging puzzles? A few years ago, journalists proclaimed the adventure gaming genre was dead, but that didn't last for long!
The fan-boys (and girl) responsible for creating remakes of Sierra's beloved King's Quest I and King's Quest II, have just released their first original classic-style adventure game for the PC, Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine.
Britney Brimhall, Chairman & CEO of Himalaya Studios comments, "after spending several years in development, making certain to get all the details JUST right, we are SO excited to finally release the game to adventure game lovers around the world!" Brimhall also remarks, "fans of the adventure genre have been neglected for far too long, and we hope with the release of Al Emmo, that gamers will once again feel the immense nostalgic feeling of loading a classic for the first time."
Order fulfillment commenced on Wednesday morning, and those who placed a preorder can expect to receive their classic gaming goodness in a flash. For those who did not yet place an order, now is the chance to visit Himalaya Studios' brand new online store. Gamers can purchase the game, soundtrack, art prints and more, all which will be immediately shipped to their doorstep.
Recently, Himalaya Studios updated the official Al Emmo website. Fans can mosey on over to www.alemmo.com for the chance to win prizes; take a sneak peek, behind the scenes, and see a "making of" movie; view never seen before concept art, and more!
Himalaya Studios was disappointed by the disappearance of retro, classic style adventure gaming and anticipates a major revival in the genre with their first original release. To support their mission, Himalaya Studios encourages adventure gamers throughout the world to unite and spread the word of the return of classic adventure gaming with Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine!

Tanzania, Africa, August, 2004 - Computer game development generally entails lounging before a screen, in a relatively harmless environment, with creature comforts like diet soda and cheesy pizza in close range. But for co-founders of Himalaya Studios, LLC, Britney Brimhall and Chris Warren, daring real-life adventures go hand-in-hand with creating adventure games. For the entire month of August, the intrepid duo journeyed across Africa, traversing the untamed plains entirely by bike; immediately after, Brimhall and Warren spent nearly a week climbing to the ice-capped summit of the highest freestanding mountain in the world-Mount Kilimanjaro. In a similar fashion to operating their company, Brimhall and Warren used teamwork, intense willpower, and extreme motivation to face challenges along their way to the top.
"Climbing challenging mountains beautifully parallels the game making process," explains Brimhall. "Basically, taking one step after another is a proven methodology that continually takes us to our ultimate destination." Warren adds, "the benefit of getting out and experiencing real adventures is twofold. First and most importantly, it reminds us that patience and persistence are important. Nothing beats the sheer satisfaction of reaching the top through your own hard work and dedication. Second, the varied experiences give us inspiration and original ideas to include in our upcoming games."
Mount Kilimanjaro is the second of the world's Seven Summits (the highest mountain on each of the seven continents) which the adventuresome pair plans to tackle. Previously, Brimhall and Warren successfully summited Mount Kosciuszko in New South Wales, Australia. Similar to their mountaineering successes, Brimhall and Warren plan to continue the journey along the often arduous path of adventure game development. Having already completed the two critically acclaimed remakes at AGD Interactive, LLC, King's Quest I VGA and King's Quest II VGA, Brimhall and Warren are now working on their next adventure game, scheduled for release in 2005.
Their African Adventure journals can be read here.
