New Al Emmo Website LAUNCHED! www.alemmo.com

The Brand Spanking New Al Emmo website has just been launched!!!!  It is so absolutely fantastically gorgeous, and was designed by the artist who made the coverart, manual, and some ingame concepts for Al Emmo.  The site includes stories, artwork, making of information, FAQs, and more.  It is truly a work of art, and really captures the nostalgic feel of the classics.  It was even commended by the designer of Maniac Mansion!

Go and have fun at the official Al Emmo website, which was launched, as we promised (thanks to Eriq Chang for working overtime!), at midnight!!!

I have to say, Excellent job on the Al Emmo official website. It is indeed a beautiful and well produced website. My complements Eriq Chang.  If only more websites were designed with the same detail and beauty as this one. It is truly a work of art and complements the game so well.

The collectors edition looks interesting, although it would have been nice to have included the soundtrack to make it an even better deal.

I found a typo though as it says, features starting Friday June 27. It should say Friday, June 30.

GameDevBrit

When Eriq showed me the site, he mentioned the same typo as well.  He will be fixing that :D

I've made the suggestion to our store coordinator of adding a soundtrack in a bundled package with the collector's game.  We'll see what he says in the morning!

Angelus3K

I've just pre-ordered the game!!! Hopefully I will have been one of the first 100 as I was waiting all day yesterday for the demo to be released and it came out at 1am when I was asleep!!!!

OOoooh I'll definetly need a soundtrack CD aswell Brit!!  <):)

Zandar

Thanks for considering the addition of the soundtrack to the collectors edition.
It is appreciated.

More website comments:

--On the contest page, it mentions--

Limited edition of Nos 2-50

I think it should say: Limited edition of Nos. 1-50

--Complete Story section--
I think there needs to be a spoiler warning mentioned at the beginning as I almost discovered many of the story events from the game. At least I was able to quickly look away as it seems that it reveals almost all plot points. I thought it was just going to be a summary or highlights of the entire story.

Angelus3K

I'm seeding the demo at 30+kbps so everyone jump on the torrent!!

Sartori

I'm spreading the word of the demo and the title to all venues I am aware of, but one thing stifles me.

I'd preorder now, and I do want that limited edition for several reasons:

A) I'm a sucker for such things.
B) It's got extra stuff.
C) I'd like to further help this company.

But.. the price is hard to stomach. 30 extra dollars is a very large amount for an "LE", especially when it's essentially for a signature. I think that, even with the sound track, this is a little expensive.  I think 50 would have been more appropriate, if not 40.

I think it really should include the soundtrack for that price, to be fair.  I do hope that consideration, as mentioned above, is taken to the fullest.

However, since I'm truly desiring to support this company and further its efforts in any way I can, I will submit and buy this LE. And also because you were so very nice to me in the e-Mail correspondance, Britney. :-)

Just food for thoughts, though. Don't take offense.

Preordered.

Angelus3K

Yea, it is good value but I couldnt afford the special edition one. So ordered the standard one.

Sartori

I couldn't really afford it either, that's the thing. x-p *slides credit card for Himalaya*. :-)

Also.. the first 100 for the game in general, or is there a seperate counter for each version? Or.. what..? I still don't understand what I can benefit from preordering early.. though I did..

Angelus3K

I think, if you ordered the special edition then you'll get it, and if you ordered the standard edition the first 100 will get the goodies.

Good job I already have Brit's autograph lol!

eriqchang

The poster is limited to 2-50 because I am keeping the first. LOL. So it says "NOS 2-50". Many limited editions are sold this way with the first few being sent to designers or friends. I hope you'll all enter the contest linked from the main page! We have lots of fun stuff to give away.

Thanks so much for all of your compliments. They really made staying up late all those sleepless nights extra worth it.

Angelus3K

Definetly worth all those late nights!! Your artwork is godlike!!!!

I posted this over at Adventure Gamers and will be adding a special EASTER EGG section into the site highlighting easter eggs in the game and also all over the promotions....

Official Al Emmo website Easter Egg I:

During the production of the site my friend Craig and I were obsessed with listening to Anita Baker. Don't ask why. LOL. So if you click into the site and go to the ABOUT THE GAME section and then into the COMPLETE STORY, you'll see a sheriff's badge pop up on the left hand side. Click on the LEFT TOP BALL on the badge edge and you'll experience being "Caught Up in the Rapture". LOL. ;)

Brit, I too thought this was a great idea. I think I mentioned to you right before we launched. Seems like the Collector's Edition would have the soundtrack included (as our COMPLETE PACKAGE did).

This is being remedied I believe. Someone is supposed to be sending me new text to pop into that section.

Hmmm, pleasantishness  :hehe: ,

So if I were to preorder the collector's edtion, would it matter if I did so before or after the decision is made whether to include the soundtrack or not? I want to make sure I get one of those babies, so I'd rather not wait on a confirmation. Extra special thanks for possibly including this =^.^=.

Daniel

That site is beautiful. Very nice work Eriq! I already ordered the LE, I was a bit suprised that there was no option to bundle it with the sound track, like with the regular edition. Seems odd that people who buy the LE would need to pay more for the CD than those that buy the bundled regular...

I don't usually buy music, but the background music on the Al Emmo site made me think that I could listen to the CD when playing games that have regular crappy music :)

Oh, and I'll try seeding the Demo-torrent on my 10Mb line whenever I keep my computer on, although it seems very fast as it is - got .5MB/s when I downloaded  :D

GameDevBrit

Hey guys,

Let it be known, you have been heard!  In the limited edition of the game, we will be providing a complimentary soundtrack of the game :D

We will be making an update to the site shortly so there will be no confusion.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Hey guys! I've made several changes to the store. For one, it now states that the soundtrack CD is included with the Limited Edition signed bundle. We'll include the CD for those who have already purchased it as well!

Also, we recalculated the shipping and handling costs. We have lowered the S&H costs for domestic orders to $6.95 per order plus an additional $1.00 per item. This means the typical S&H charge for ordering one copy of the game will be $7.95. We are also going to refund the difference to the people who have already placed orders.

That was the good news... the bad news is that international shipping is going to be a bit more expensive than initially thought. We've decided to charge a flat fee of $14.95 per order for international shipments. This fee will not change no matter how many items you purchase. Because the mistake was on our part, we will absorb the difference and the customers who have ordered with the previous S&H amount will not be affected.

Daniel

Very nice of you to include the CD in the LE. I still think it was fairly priced at it was, and now a very good value for my money.

I noticed you have'nt yet updated the alemmo site, there it does'nt say that the CD is included. Also in the store where the the contests of the LE box are listed at the bottom of the page it does'nt say anything about the CD.

I do hope the digital download comes through, since for the regular edition box International customers will need to pay 50% in shipping charges, and in my country I might need to pay an additional 22% taxes and customs duties - which makes the total costs twice as high as just paying for a download.

eriqchang

the website will be updated today. I'm on it!

Unless I missed it, I didn't see anything about a DATE when the game is being released.  If I'm going to pre-order something, I want to know WHEN my order is to be fulfilled.

I think alot of people trust Himalaya and know that the release date will be soon, and I just plain wanna be one of the first 100 to get the extra stuff!

Tom Lewandowski

I'm sure they do trust us, but in retail...like when you pre-order a movie DVD, or something from a chain-store, you're told the expected release date -- when the product is expected to ship.  I just found it unusual that there's no mention of it.  Next week?  Next month?  By Christmas?  :)

Angelus3K

Lol good point. I'm just glad I know my pre-order is in there, I don't mind waiting.  :)

Hmmm. I guess it might be a bit unusual not to tell when its going to ship. From what I've read I'd assume it to be quite soon. I do preorder some great games a long time before they are out, for instance I ordered Civilization 4 about a half year before it was released and Unreal Tournament 2007 I ordered last fall - lol. Then again I order these games from a store which wont charge my card before they ship the product. Like with Al Emmo there were many previews etc released on the web so I'm assured that the games are going to be good, and I could cancel them if I wanted. With Al Emmo I made a small gamble, since I ordered it before I tried the demo, but had to do it since they promised goodies :)

GameDevBrit

We're aiming for: within four weeks :)

Zandar

I found a small typo in the download section of the website.

In the Listen to the Soundtrack section the first sentence reads,

Half of the adventure is in the the music.
(There is an extra "the" that should not be here.)
