Off-Topic Forum / Re: Star Trek Picard Series
February 27, 2020, 07:40:13 AM
I'm 3 episodes in and I've already given up from episode 2 (if not episode 1). I'm here for Patrick Stewart and the cameos/references. I do not care about this story at all. And it pains me to say it. I wanted to like it. But this is just not Star Trek. Just someone's pet project to make a political statement by shoving that square peg into the round hole of Star Trek.

Also, I've heard rumours that by episode 4 and 5 the show really amps up the rage and disappointment factor. Not looking forward to that. Sigh. RIP Star Trek.

Yeah, you have to do it before the market closes up shop. Best time to do it I think is before you head for the Redcap camp. After that it's too late.

Have you tried running the setup and changing some settings? Like OpenGL/Direct3D, windowed mode, etc.

Okay, technically there are are subtle gong sounds ️installed  when you activate the dial's beam at the matching sculptures,

Yes, that's what he was talking about. This is what he said:

"The Nautanai effigy made a strange sound when I activated it, and with everything else, the ground shook,..."

Quotebut to hear that properly next to the sound of running water,
a player has to turn down your beautiful music ️️, and who can bring oneself to do THAT ♪♫←?

Hah! You can still hear it, though.

No, the sound means you got it right. The shaking screen means you got it wrong. It's a sequence, as Wizard said not so subtly. :P

There are no dead ends in the game (though, there are deaths, obviously. Some people confuse those). If you're locked in an area of the game everything you need is in that area. No worries.

I could be wrong (and Chris correct me if I am), but I don't believe the compression has anything to do with AGS. The compression artifacts in the speech lines are simply due to OGG Vorbis compression. We probably could have used HD 24-bit 96Khz stereo WAV files for the audio just fine but it would bloat up the game to enormous and unreasonable proportions.
#7
Haha! It's already in my own head!

Firstly, thanks for the kind words!

Secondly, I don't have mod privileges on the forum lol.

The Mage's Initiation complete digital soundtrack is now available to buy! Over 2 hours and 20 minutes of music in a whopping 92 tracks! (Including bonus tracks, some of which went unused in the final game!) You also get 4 hi-res variations of the cover artwork so you can can customize the soundtrack in your music player with your own personal elemental affinity!

$12 CAD (or $9 USD) on my Bandcamp store in a variety of formats (MP3, FLAC, and more!):

It's interesting, actually. When I first played the game I made sure to play as a Fire Mage because I sort of considered it the "canon" storyline, seeing as much of the plot revolves around the fire element and fire mage characters. And D'arc as a fire mage is the default choice for the game logo/box cover.

I'm definitely not complaining that people are choosing whichever elements they're choosing. I'm just intrigued by the results! :)
#11
Except that the game is expressly written so that the 4 elements directly correspond to certain character traits and tendencies.
#12
That jives with my experience of watching YouTubers and Twitch streamers. Everyone seems to give the most logical answers for the element quiz at the beginning and that always ends up being Earth usually.
#13
Thanks for doing the review!

Well, if you want to help Bort you have to abandon Varner. It's one of three outcomes. Helping Bort is the second best option. There's also a third and worst option.

If you've got 4 pieces, just look at the post where the poster was and replace each piece one at a time.

Yes, it is. There's a special screen. You'll know it when you see it. Keep looking around. Draw a map if it helps. Make sure you've visited every screen.

AGS has yet to catch up to modern gaming as far as borderless windowed modes go. We're kind of limited by the engine until they improve things to that level. And I don't know how comprehensive a function that would be to implement. There's a bunch of things that I'd like to see implemented in AGS that just don't exist and really should (some simple, some not). Even with the sound engine. But in this case, it is what it is unfortunately. We don't really have that control.

He mentions the landmarks that all appear where he hid his property. They'll all be on the same screen. You can see it on the map he gives you to get an idea of which direction you need to go. When you arrive D'arc will say aloud that this looks like the spot.

Enemies can drop gold. They'll also drop items you can either use or sell. There are also errands you can do for certain sellers in the market to earn money.

Ah. Yeah, even though I installed with the installer, when I launched it it launched GOG Galaxy automatically.

640x480 definitely isn't necessary. But yeah, need more info.

If you're on Windows, run setup and set the driver to OpenGL.
Then set Fullscreen scale to "Stretch, preserving aspect ratio"
Scaling method can be whatever you want. If you like pixels do Nearest-neighbor. If you like the blurring/blending, choose Linear Interpolation.

I get a nice fullscreen at 1080p this way. Same with Windowed scale mode.

I just installed from the GOG install file with no issues. I was going to suggest using GOG Installer's file verifier/checker but it doesn't seem to exist in this installer. Try redownloading. It's possible for the installer to be intact but still have corrupted somehow when downloading.

It was the same for me when I backed via PayPal for Quest For Infamy. I've never been listed as a backer on Kickstarter itself for that campaign. I don't think it can be resolved since a Paypal payment doesn't go through Kickstarter's system. I didn't mind though as long as I got my perks as a backer from the actual campaigners (Infamous Quests), which I have. That's all that really matters.
#29
I don't see Space Quest For Glory by Infamous Adventures. Very short but probaby worth adding?

Off-Topic Forum / Massive Interplay GOG Sale
September 26, 2016, 09:38:51 AM
Anyone who's a fan of Interplay games, jump on GOG and get their "Back To School" sale. You can get the entire lot for $30 down from $300. Apparently Interplay is selling all its assets so these probably won't be around anymore at least not for quite a long time possibly. Highly recommend you pick it up. And since it's GOG you don't need anything like Steam to play it. Just download and go! Yours forever.

Classics like Star Trek 25th Anniversary, Judgment Rites, Starfleet Academy, Freespace, Toonstruck, Redneck Rampage, Jagged Alliance, Earthworm Jim, MDK, Kingpin, and tons more.

So a local radio station in my town had a summer show about video game music this year and asked me to come into their studio to do an interview seeing as I compose music for video games. We discussed, among many things, what makes video game music special, how composing for video games can be very different from any other media, and some of the music I've written for games in the past (as well as some upcoming that haven't been released yet).

Also featured, of course, is a few tracks from the upcoming Mage's Initiation includign a teaser of a new track previously unheard from the game so check it out!

Click on the September 9th link (I recommend the 128kbps download for best quality). The show starts at around the 3:30 mark.

All I really play anymore on my Android is Minecraft Minesweeper. What an awesome take on the game with multiple new game modes.
