Hey guys,

I just wanted to let you know, the time has come. This weekend, I'm embarking on an adventure, riding my pedal bicycle from Phoenix, Arizona to Panama City, Panama. It's about 3,500 miles through 8 countries, and I'll be carrying everything on my bicycle. It'll be my home for the next four months.

My friend and I are attempting to raise money for a charity I support, which is the 100 Club. They provide financial assistance to the families of police and firefighters who are seriously injured or killed in the line-of-duty. I used to work for the police department, and spent the past year in private security as an armed guard, and it's a way for me to support the people I care about. If anyone is interested in donating, or knows of anyone who would like to donate, please do such at:

http://www.firstgiving.com/herosquest2008

All donations are tax deductible and 100% goes to the charity. My friend and I are paying for the entire adventure ourselves. We're attempting to raise $50,000 for the cause.

We have an online journal, which we've already started posting in, and will be updating it as frequently as possible with stories and pictures from our journey. You can follow along vicariously at:

http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/HQ8

You can also check our official website to find out more about the adventure itself:

http://www.herosquest2008.com

Well, I won't be around much for the next four months as I make my way through the SW of the USA, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama, but I am looking forward to speaking with you all more when I get back. In the meantime, I wish you all the best!! Please do feel free to spread the word.

Yours truly,

Britney

General Forum / Support Climb to Conquer Cancer
January 29, 2007, 12:57:09 PM
Hey guys!

I'm not sure if any of you have been effected by cancer in your life, but I've known a lot of people to succumb to the illness, including my dad, grandma, and my best friends' brother.  I've also have two friends who are survivors.  I'm going to be participating in the "Climb to Conquer Cancer" as a means of honoring them, raising awareness, and raising money for research and quality of life programs for those suffering from cancer.

The hike is going to be at the end of February and will end at the roof top of South Mountain.  Ok, so it's not QUITE the Himalayas, but hey, it goes along with the mountain theme of our company, and our belief that taking things step for step will help us in reaching our ultimate goals (i.e. aiding the adventure genre, helping those with cancer, etc).  The range is a beautiful desert region in Phoenix, Arizona.  You can see a picture of South Mountain here:

http://content.ichotelsgroup.com/destin ... 272_57.jpg

If you have the desire to support the cause, and have the resources, please feel free to donate!  You can access the donation page here:

http://www.acsevents.org/faf/donorReg/d ... =162489129

Also, if you have any family or friends who have had cancer, please let me know, as I'd like to honor them on the hike to the top!

Thanks for your support!

The Brand Spanking New Al Emmo website has just been launched!!!!  It is so absolutely fantastically gorgeous, and was designed by the artist who made the coverart, manual, and some ingame concepts for Al Emmo.  The site includes stories, artwork, making of information, FAQs, and more.  It is truly a work of art, and really captures the nostalgic feel of the classics.  It was even commended by the designer of Maniac Mansion!

Go and have fun at the official Al Emmo website, which was launched, as we promised (thanks to Eriq Chang for working overtime!), at midnight!!!
