Off-Topic Forum / Re: Star Trek Picard Series

Yeah. Also got stuck with episode 3. Star Trek really died when TNG stopped. Nothing since then got it right. Oh well.

First episode was really nice... lots of nostalgia.  Second one less so, but I guess they have to make certain plot points clear.  Still, worth the watch... especially if you're a TNG fan.

Okay. Those posts I've seen before, and I assumed Navy cleaned them. They were posted by 'new users' quite a few time when the forums were mostly in hiatus.
I guess the easiest way to fix these would be to use Google's webmaster tools and have them scan the current pages more often, or if I remember correctly you can scan them immediately.  But the results still take a few days to pull through.

I've experienced that once before with an old website... quite an irritation to fix.

Strange. Tried a few search queries on Google, and couldn't find anything like you described. What exactly did you search for?

Yes, you are right, and I didn't say killing monsters weren't in the games in the past. I meant in an era where FPS and RPG are the preferred games of the masses, it is kinda expected from games.

That would be a curious perspective, if Mages had any political power in this game. Which they don't, it seems. At least, not overtly. They just keep to themselves. The only two areas of life where they have any influence, it seems, is technological progress and training of other mages.

Well, power is not necessarily about ruling people.

For a long time Hero6 would have had a Roman segment to it. Skeleton soldiers, and a roman camp taken over by brigands, but after all the rewrites and reshapes it kinda disappeared.
And then the game disappeared.

... and considering the amount of recorded speech in this game!! Scary!

Heh. Don't disagree.
This means Anakin/Vader did 'balance out' the force... twice. Which means he IS the hero of both the first 3 movies, and the prequels. Luke, as Yoda predicted: failed. And people don't get SW8's Luke... He never was great, and he failed again in SW8's flashbacks.  Even the Star Destroyer really was Obi Wan Kenobi from beyond the grave that told him what to do.

So... D'arc should probably have joined the 'main villian'. (Heh. Just speaking nonsense.)

I have a strong suspicion that 'giftless' are actually NOT 'not chosen' by the elements. I think it is a lie maintained by the mage castes to keep power away from the obvious majority.

The influence of the fifth element can be seen throughout town, the personalities of the townspeople, and even many of the tasks given to you by them.

Must say I'm struggling with what you're saying. Do you need Jedi and Sith to balance the force?
Do you really need mages for the elements to 'manage' the world?

Don't you think it is rather human nature to manipulate the forces of nature to their advantage, and the struggle is once again between humans to maintain the balance of power... In the human 'plane of existence'. Just like we see in the attempt to overthrow the lord, who were abusing his power. That's also why the senior mages kept on warning D'arc about his ambitions. Urgh... Daniel must have gone crazy contemplating all these things.

So... I'm just saying the Force's nature can't be changed. It is what it is. The dark and the light was always there, and will always be there.... In a galaxy far far away.

I have an idea Daniel Stacey wrote these things with specific intentions. It sounds like he's flushed out an entire overarching storyline, and I think the fire mages being seen as aggresive, not quite north pointing moral campus characters will probably play a big role in the future. And... I could be wrong and they're all a-holes. Heh.

I believe they mentioned it on the Steam discussion board, and Chris acknowledged it. It should be fixed with one of the updates soon, but this will help as a reminder. Thanks!

Heh. Well...
Then you can't blame 'the-fire-villian-who-should-not-be-named', since he was basically guided by his element. The same can then be said of the priestess.

Didn't the Priestess say something about delving into the dark forbidden areas of water magic?
Out of curiosity... I hear that a few people would prefer a game to be made with Unity, with nice 3D graphics (obviously somewhat imitating the 2D style.)

Should a sequel then go with a RPG perspective like Hero-U did, a FPS view, or try and have a lower angle (always pointing in one direction) view like the classic adventure games... only in 3D?
Just curious what people/fans of the genre like.

I was recently reading about Ancient Rome and what a horrible time it must have been to live in. Anyway, I think the setting could make for a great adventure / RPG game.

Just wanted to throw that out there to all you adventure game designers!

I don't disagree, but wasn't QfG5 a sort of Rome and Greek mixture theme?
Hmmm... remember very little of that game. Haven't played it for 2 decades.
Don't you guys think that this fire master may have influenced how fire mages are seen or how they act at this tower? Obviously then he'd also be an influence on how they are chosen.
Just thinking.

My other light criticism of the game is this. I know that you need to support pacifist players, but I didn't like that combat earned me no XP at all, and didn't improve my skills or characteristics in any way. Really made all those wandering monsters in the forest while I was trying to map it incredibly annoying. Oh look, more spiderlings. I get nothing at all for killing them. Blegh.

Good critique! Although it did not bother me as much, I hear what you are saying.
If I wanted to go philosophical, I would say it is a good lesson that you do not have to kill everything you see, just what you need.
However, this is an adventure game in an RPG and FPS era, so I doubt it fits into that mould.

Heh. You'll have a few people worried if you yell out Happy D'arc Day.

To be fair... He was fighting two mages for some time, so he may have exhausted all his healing potions before fighting D'arc.

LOL! Yeah... I believe so. :) You need a serious reason to want to look for Varner. :) Remember you're in the middle of your initiation!

On starting the game the screen resolution is too large to the point that I can't view anything how can you stop this?

Figured it out going to have to run it in 640X480 mode.

Hey kaelthas628,
You will have to give these guys a bit more information about your system and OS. This sounds like a strange case.

LOL! These spam posts would be so much more effective if they weren't mostly gibberish.

Come on man! Try harder! Half of us here have english as a second or third language, which means gibberish is even more difficult to understand!
Really!  We want to be click-baited... try harder!

Hehe. That actually looks like fun!

I kinda forgot about the sabre-tooth bunnies. For an instant I wondered why you were shooting the poor cute little bunnies!

Could be that I myself misunderstand Cellardoor, but I believe he asks whether you've taken steps to promote the game to all adventure-gaming fans, and not just Sierra fans. Could be that I'm wrong...
